February 11-15th was National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Week.
For the third year in a row, VFW 9662 Auxiliary members, Carol & Mike Holmes and Scott & Susan Holmes handed out 264 Walmart individual pies at the Des Moines VA for Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Week! The Department of Iowa VFW Auxiliary bought the pies! The pies were a hit! Their picture from 2018 was used in the National Auxiliary Facts Leaflet! This year the Veterans also asked for a pizza party with bingo. F&O’s (Felix and Oscar’s) Pizza at 4050 Merle Hay Road in Des Moines donated 10 pizzas for the Valentine/birthday Party on February 14th at the VA Hospital CLC unit. Bingo cash prizes were given. VFW 9662 Auxiliary members Doris Decker and Stella Lane were on hand to assist with the party.
