The Bataan Death March is a grueling 26.2-mile march held annually to honor the thousands of American and Filipino soldiers who endured unimaginable hardship during World War II. After the fall of Bataan in April 1942, these brave men were forced to march over 60 miles through the scorching heat of the Philippine jungle, facing starvation, exhaustion, and brutal treatment at the hands of their captors. Thousands perished, and those who survived endured years of captivity.

This year, VFW Post 9662 Boline-Manfredi and the Auxiliary have proudly sponsored our team to take on this challenge and honor the memory of those who suffered and sacrificed. The four team members—John Curtis (Post Commander), Joe Curtis, Corey Cook, and Justin Coffin—are all combat veterans with a combined seven deployments. We all served together in Anbar Province, Ramadi, Iraq, in 2005, where we witnessed firsthand the dangers and heartache that war brings.

Our team is traveling to White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico to take on the 26.2-mile Bataan Memorial Death March. With 67 years of combined military service, we are honored to represent VFW Post 9662 in this grueling challenge. Facing intense desert heat and rugged terrain, this march is a small tribute to the immense sacrifices made by the heroes of Bataan.

You can follow our journey on Facebook for live updates as we travel to New Mexico and throughout the march. Thank you for your support!
