Back by popular demand, the bar-b-que teams will be going at it in a head-to-head competition that is bound to be fierce!! You can come out and sample some chili, drink a beverage, and fill up on BBQ plate lunches prepared by one of Ankeny’s finest master BBQ’er, Larry Halbrook! Don’t miss this celebration that raised bunches and bunches of money for Veterans last year! We’d love to see you there!
More details to come but be sure to mark your calendars for the 2020 Post 9662 Poker Run! Live band, food and prizes! Check back for more details!
Due to the knowledge of customers having tested positive for Covid in the last week, the VFW will be closed until the 4th of August out of an abundance of precaution for our customer’s and staff’s safety. This time will be utilized to perform extra cleaning. If you have any questions, please call the Post and leave a message and someone will return your call.

Stop in at the Post and pre-order your new t-shirts by this Friday. We have options for Auxiliary logo shirts or Post logo shirts available. Or you can send an email to Angie Lauer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We want to be as transparent as possible with our customers. We will be reopening the Post today, Tuesday, August 4th for normal business hours. We are committed to keeping our staff and customers safe and healthy!
We closed the Post in order to deep clean and sanitize the clubroom and kitchen. We have several added measures in place and will continue our normal cleaning schedule as well. Our bartenders, kitchen staff and volunteers are all wearing masks for the immediate future, as well as gloves during all food preparation.
We ask that if you do not feel well, stay home. The Iowa ABD is also asking all bars to step up efforts of social distancing during this time. When you come in, try to keep to your group and practice social distancing the best you can. Please understand that we must follow these guidelines in enforcing social distancing in the Post.
We will keep everyone updated on any changes. Thank you for your understanding and support!
It wouldn’t be summer without some Iowa sweet corn! Pair that up with the best grilled chicken around. Stop out and see us!
Stella Lane has designed some cool earrings to show everyone your red, white and blue! Contact her to order or stop up at the Post!
Hey – we know it isn’t prime rib, but we have to start somewhere!! Due to social distancing, we will not have the normal chow line that we are famous for on Thursday evening. Instead we are in for a real treat!! Burgers or Pork Fritters served with fries. They will be served in to go packaging so you can eat inside, outside on the picnic tables or take them home and enjoy!! But, make no mistake….we are back in business! Come join us!!
